Serves 6

Makes 12 little sandwiches

12-mini dinner rolls (1 package Hawaiian Rolls)

1/4 cup butter

1 tablespoon finely chopped onion (optional)

1 tablespoon prepared mustard

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

4 ounces thinly sliced baked ham, chopped or cut in small thin slices

3/4 cup shredded Swiss or Cheddar cheese, or use thin slices

1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing tops

1 tablespoon poppy seeds (optional)

Melt butter and add onions. Cook until onions are clear. (if you don't like little hunks of onion, you can substitute onion powder or flakes). Stir in mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Without separating rolls, slice the flat of rolls horizontally. Spread both sides (inside tops and bottoms) evenly with butter mixture. Fill evenly with ham and cheese. Place the rolls on a baking sheet and tightly wrap in foil which has been lightly sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. If desired, brush the tops with a little melted butter and sprinkle lightly with poppy seeds. Refrigerate until ready to bake. Bake at 375 for about 15 minutes or until thoroughly heated and cheese is melted.

You can use most any cooked, thinly slices or chopped meat or seafood. If you're not a meat fan, add more of your favorite cheese instead of ham. These are yummy. Great recipe to prepare ahead and bake right before ready to serve.
