Both hospitals in Paducah are now offering an additional treatment for cancer patients who are concerned about hair loss due to chemotherapy.

Baptist Health Paducah and Mercy Health Lourdes issued press releases on Friday to introduce their use of the Paxman Scalp Cooling System, which uses a custom-fitted cap and circulating liquid to cool the scalp before, during and after chemotherapy. Reduced blood flow to hair follicles can keep chemotherapy meds from causing hair loss.

The Your Fight Fund purchased the caps at Baptist Health Paducah. Employees established the fund to help meet the needs of local cancer patients. Call the Ray and Kay Eckstein Regional Cancer Care Center at 270-554-0011 for more information.

The therapy is provided to patients at Mercy Health Lourdes through a grant from Stomp. For more information, call 270-331-2973.
