This is the fourth year Mercy Health has hosted the day of healing. The event is in recognition of International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, a day set aside for individuals and families affected by suicide to gather to find comfort and gain understanding as they share stories of healing and hope. The event will also include a screening of a documentary produced by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a survivors’ resilience programming and a closing remembrance ceremony.
In 1999, Senator Harry Reid introduced a resolution to the United States Congress which led to the creation of National Survivors of Suicide Day. Reed is a survivor of his father’s suicide.
Online registration is available at afsp.org/SurvivorDay. For questions regarding the event, call Samantha Powell at the Regional Prevention Center at 270-442-8039 ext. 1701. For more information concerning Mercy Health, visit Mercy.com
