The U.S. Department of Defense, in partnership with Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation and the Purchase Area Development District, will host a 8-day health and wellness clinic this month for residents of western Kentucky, southern Illinois, and southeast Missouri.
Through the DOD’s Innovative Readiness Training program, Operation Trident will bring U.S. military healthcare providers to Barlow, Sikeston, and Cairo, to provide basic medical, dental, and optical screenings at no cost to patients or the community.
These screenings will be held from Friday, June 14, to Saturday, June 22. Services are available to all residents ages 2 and up who are uninsured, underinsured, or in need of quality care; no proof of insurance or identification is needed. There is NO COST to the patient.
The clinics will be open to the general public at in the gym at Ballard County Middle School, 3565 Paducah Road, Barlow; Miner Baptist Church in Sikeston; and Cairo High School in Cairo. No appointments are necessary, but residents are encouraged to arrive early to ensure an opening for services.
The clinic will be closed on Sunday, June 16, but will open its doors every other day during the 10-day mission from at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. On Tuesday and Thursday (June 18 and 20), the clinic will stay open until 7 p.m.
Services provided will include non-emergency medical treatments and screenings; sports physicals; dental cleanings, fillings, and tooth extractions; and eye exams, with single-vision prescription glasses made on-site.
In addition to receiving medical services, residents will be able to obtain information at clinic sites about local healthcare services, public health programs, health resources and general community resources.
This mission is led by the Air National Guard, in partnership with active-duty Army and Air Force, and Navy and Air Force Reserve.
