Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear says wearing masks in public is “basic public health guidance" to combat the coronavirus.

He said Wednesday it shouldn't become a political issue. The governor has stressed the importance of mask wearing as more people venture out as the state’s economy gradually gets rebooted.

Nonessential retail businesses reopened Wednesday. On Friday, restaurants can reopen dining rooms at 33% capacity.

Beshear also reported 166 more coronavirus cases in Kentucky and 10 additional virus-related deaths.
