Martha Bell, who founded Martha's Vineyard in 1990, spoke with West Kentucky Star about the project.
Bell said meals are prepared and delivered throughout the city to those that are homebound. She estimated that over 4,200 individuals were fed through the program last year, and this year she is prepared for 5,000.
"It takes a lot of people to produce this Thanksgiving feast that we have," Bell said. "It's always really busy Thanksgiving Day and we need all the help we can get."
If you would like to donate your time to Martha's Vineyard, you can contact them at 270-575-0021. Bell said they are in need of people to help greet and serve, deliver meals, and for cleanup.
The meal will be served beginning at 11 am on Thanksgiving Day at their facility at 1100 North 12th Street in Paducah.
If you don't have time to donate, Bell said they are always short on funds. "We're always here all year round, and we're always short on funds. The day of the event, with our facility being wide open to everyone, that means that our utilities are going to be double to triple."
