The Illinois State Police District 13 is partnering with Kroger and Pepsi for their first Cram The Cruiser Food Drive.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) has begun accepting donations for its first annual “Cram The Cruiser” holiday food drive. Designed to provide non-perishable food items for families in need throughout the Southern Illinois area, the campaign will continue through December 3. Donations will be accepted throughout the campaign, however there will be a final push for donations and celebration held on December 3rd. On this final day, ISP representatives will be on hand at the Marion and Carbondale Kroger stores to accept the donations. Look for additional details on the ISP District 13 Facebook page concerning the specific times.

Collection sites for donations have been established at all Southern Illinois Kroger stores. Suggested donations include canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk and juices.

According to Lieutenant Michael Alvey, ISP District 13 / 22 Interim Commander, the food will be distributed to local shelters, churches or other organizations in the areas where it is collected. All donations will stay in Southern Illinois. “The public’s spirit of giving around the holidays can make a real difference for many families struggling financially during the holiday season. It’s a noble act that provides a genuine public service and something we are proud to be part of,” said Alvey.
