The St. Mary School System has announced Doug Shelton as the new Middle and High School Principal, effective July 1.

Shelton currently teaches social studies and history at the high school, and recently completing his 10th year of coaching soccer for St. Mary School System. He has taught for eleven years, ten of those have been in the St. Mary system.  

“For ten years, Mr. Shelton’s commitment to our faith, students, and families has been greatly evidenced in the classroom, on the playing field, and everywhere he goes. We are delighted to have an individual with his energy and passion for Catholic education join our school leadership team.  We look forward to growing St. Mary upward and onward with Mr. Shelton at the helm for many years to come,” said Eleanor Spry, St. Mary School System Director. 

Shelton earned his Bachelor’s Degree, Teaching Certification, and his Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership through Murray State University.  He will complete his Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership: Principal from the University of the Cumberlands at the end of June.

Shelton is married to his wife, Chrissy and has two children.
