Sheffer Named New Ballard Elementary Principal

BARLOW - Chris Sheffer has been named the new principal at Ballard County Elementary School.

The Site-Based Decision-Making Council at BCES selected Sheffer on July 1. Sheffer, a Ballard County native, had been assistant principal Morgan Elementary School since 2011, where he also worked as a positive behavior coach. He was principal at Carlisle County Middle School from 2009-11, and a teacher, athletic director, interventionist and tutor at Ballard County Middle School from 2002-09. He was also a teacher at BCES from 2001-02.

Sheffer holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and his teacher certificate in science and language arts (grades 5-8), and a master’s degree and Rank 1 certification in school administration, all from Murray State University. He is a 1989 graduate of Ballard Memorial High School.

Sheffer lives in Paducah, with his wife, Julie, and their children. He is a Boy Scout leader, and member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church, and has served as a volunteer missionary multiple times.
