The Kentucky Department of Education has selected Graves County Schools transportation director Jason Riley to serve on the 2018 School Bus Mechanical Specification Subcommittee.

KDE pupil transportation section supervisor Elisa Hanley wrote in a letter to Graves County Superintendent Kim Dublin, “Thank you for allowing Mr. Riley to serve on this important committee, as we strive to maintain our status as a national leader in bus safety by updating our school bus specifications. The quality of the specifications is dependent upon using our most senior personnel to do a proper assessment of the needs of the districts and incorporate them into the State Specifications.”

“We in Graves County know that Jason Riley has a job with a great deal of responsibility and that he handles it all very well,” Dublin said. “I am pleased and proud that his knowledge and skills are recognized at the statewide level. Most important of all is that he and other experts are offered this opportunity to contribute their ideas and experience to ensure the high level of professionalism and safety for which Kentucky public school buses are known.”

Riley currently is in his ninth year as Graves County’s transportation director. He worked as a teacher for ten years previously.

“I’m honored by this appointment and grateful for the opportunity to influence Kentucky school transportation in this way,” Riley said. “Children and youth are our greatest resource and getting them to and from school safely is a major priority.”
