Paducah Tilghman High School seniors Anna Grace McGee, James Luke McGee, and Emery Wainscott have been named  Commended Students in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship program.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Anna Grace McGee is a member of PTHS Mock Trial and Academic Team.  She is president of the National Honor Society and is Interact Club treasurer. She is a Governor's Scholars Program alumnus and a volunteer at Baptist Health.  After graduation Anna Grace plans to attend a four year university and pursue a pre-med course of study. Her parents are Laura and Raymond McGee.

James Luke McGee is a member of the PTHS tennis team, National Honor Society, Academic Team, and Interact Club. He is a Centre Summer Scholar. After graduation James Luke plans to attend Centre College. His parents are Laura and Raymond McGee.

Emery Wainscott is a member of the PTHS Band, Choir, Speech Team, Academic Team, and Film Club. She is vice president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Maiden Alley Teen Scene board and is an alumnus of Governor's School for the Arts.  After graduation, Emery plans to attend a four year university and pursue majors in Environmental Studies and Creative Writing. Her parents are Jodi and Britton Wainscott.
