Nina, Pinta Replicas Headed to Grand Rivers
By West Kentucky Star Staff
GRAND RIVERS - You can take a trip back in time later this month by visiting Grand Rivers to see historic replicas of two of Columbus' ships, the Nina and Pinta, at Green Turtle Bay Resort and Marina.

The Columbus Foundation is bringing both ships, which they call a "sailing museum," to the area from June 13 through June 24. The ships, which have been called the most historically accurate replicas of the famous vessels ever to be built, are used to educate children and adults on these types of ships and how they were used by early explorers.

The ships are open each day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $8.50 for adults, $7.50 for seniors (60 and over), $6.50 for students age 5-16, and children age 4 and under get in free. No reservations are necessary. Teachers or organizations wishing to schedule a 30 minute guided tour with a crew member may call 787-672-2152 or email ninapintatour@gmail.com.
