Members of a screening committee have been picked to help find the next superintendent of McCracken County Schools.

Pete Galloway with the Kentucky School Board Association told West Kentucky Star Thursday the committee includes two parents, Emily Luckett and Chris Yarber; two teachers, Mary Lee Cooper and Crystal Culp; Hendron-Lone Oak Elementary principal Jonathan Reid; school board member Kelly Walker; and Dan Pope, a classified employee.

Galloway said the official search process will begin next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at a joint meeting between the school board and the screening committee. The committee will then meet several times over the next few weeks as they work to find a suitable candidate.

The school system's former superintendent, Brian Harper, resigned on March 8. Board members appointed Heath Cartwright interim superintendent on March 11.

Galloway, who previously served as Graves County Schools Superintendent, said he will be assisting the screening committee as they work to fill the position. He said ultimately the choice is up to committee members though, regardless of his recommendations.
