Earlier in the year the class hosted a dance to raise money as part of a Project-Based Learning task. That money was used to buy necessary ingredients to package specially formulated rice-soy casseroles that will be delivered to hungry children and families.
The class was able to buy and package 4,752 meals.
The class partnered with Kids Against Hunger, a nonprofit organization that created the meals which accommodate a broad diversity of ethnic tastes and religious differences around the world, while providing easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by a malnourished child’s body and mind. The food is prepared simply by adding the package to boiling water.
