A transfer agreement between Murray State University and West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) will take place Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. at the Murray State Paducah regional campus, located at 4430 Sunset Avenue. The partnership will provide students transferring with an associate degree in Medical Information Technology (MIT) from WKCTC a seamless transfer of credits toward a bachelor's degree into Murray State's public and community health program.

"Healthcare is the largest industry in the United States and the second largest employer," said Dr. Miranda Terry, Murray State Interim Chair of the Department of Applied Health Sciences and Assistant Professor and Director of Public and Community Health. "The new transfer agreement provides a seamless pathway between WKCTC and Murray State for those interested in the health field to expand their knowledge while exposing them to the different facets of the healthcare industry. This is a wonderful opportunity for students as well as the region to keep future health professionals in the area."

WKCTC Dean of Allied Health and Personal Services Carrie Hopper agreed.

"We are excited to work with Murray State University on creating this seamless transition for our graduates. Graduates of many of our allied health programs will have the opportunity to work in their chosen field, while pursuing a bachelor's of science degree in public and community health at Murray State to seek higher level job positions," said Hopper. "This educational opportunity will provide students the opportunity to receive a top education from two premier institutions."

In conjunction with the transfer agreement taking place at the University's Paducah campus, a health professions fair for students, alumni, and the greater community will take place from 8:30-10:30 a.m. that showcases programs available through the University's School of Nursing and Health Professions as well as nursing and allied health programs available through WKCTC.  This event is for all regional high school students interested in any health-related field or wanting to explore new, emerging health professions, current students and alumni from WKCTC allied health programs, and community members interested in learning more about the various opportunities to start their educational journey to continuing their education at the associate, bachelor, and master degree levels.

Also that day, Murray State transfer center staff will be on hand from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the WKCTC Anderson Building (4810 Alben Barkley Drive) for students who are looking to enroll at the University.
