Murray's annual Town & Gown Community Band and Choir Holiday Concert is planned for Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 pm at First Baptist Church. This free event is open to the entire community.

The chorus will be led by Dr. Brad Almquist, director of choral activities at MSU and features several selections, including a performance by the children’s ensemble from Murray Elementary School. Dr. Todd Hill, professor and director of jazz studies at Murray State, will lead the band. Both the chorus and band will perform “Irving Berlin’s Christmas.”

On Monday, Dec. 4, the President’s Office at MSU and the Town & Gown Partnership will sponsor a Holiday Open House at the president’s home, also known as Oakhurst, 1510 Main St., from 4 to 6 pm. The event is open to all Murray State faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members. Refreshments will be provided.

The Town & Gown Partnership at MSU enhances the quality of living and learning in the community by fostering improved communication between the University and local citizens, facilitating the discussion of community concerns, organizing educational events that promote the history, culture and commerce of the region and investing in collaborative partnerships with philanthropic and community service organizations.
