Harshaw Trane, in conjunction with the Tennessee Valley Authority, at the May 19th school board meeting, recognized the Graves County School District for the district’s efforts to increase energy efficiency. In 2015, the Graves County Schools partnered with Harshaw Trane, an energy services company based in Louisville, on a guaranteed energy savings contract. The project included HVAC and controls upgrades at Graves County High School and Wingo Elementary as well as lighting improvements in numerous buildings throughout the district.

As a result of the project, the Graves County School District became eligible for rebates due to the district’s energy savings efforts. The rebate applications resulted in a total rebate of $97,055.43 through the TVA and Jackson Purchase Electrical Cooperative incentive programs.

“We have been able to put money we’ve saved into other areas that benefit our students and staff,” said Superintendent Kim Dublin. “Specifically, we are working on a technology refresh and updating playground equipment.”

The rebates were for HVAC, controls and lighting at these schools:

·         Graves County High School - $62,467.03 (TVA)

·         Graves County Middle School - $5,928.05 (TVA)

·         Central Elementary School - $2,000 (TVA)

·         Fancy Farm Elementary School - $1,888.92 (TVA)

·         Farmington Elementary School - $1,913.51 (TVA)

·         Sedalia Elementary School - $6,652.21 (TVA)

·         Symsonia Elementary School  -  $3,652.95 (JPEC)

·         Wingo Elementary School -  12,552.76 (TVA)

“We’re proud of the work completed at the Graves County Schools and of the partnership we have developed with the district,” said Chris Jaggers, Harshaw Trane Education Leader. “The facility improvements are not only saving energy, but also creating a better learning and teaching environment. We’re pleased to help in this rebate process and provide even more savings for the Graves County Schools.”
