Registration is underway through the Paducah Parks Services Department for the second session offered this summer for the Adventure by Bike Camp.  The camp will be held July 6-10 from 9am til 4:30pm, rain or shine at BikeWorld, located at 809 Joe Clifton Drive.

Lunch, snacks, and entry fees to local establishments are included in the $85 registration fee.  Multi-child discounts are available.

A bicycle with 26” or larger wheels, a helmet, and a water bottle with holder are required for the camp.  All equipment must be inspected and approved by BikeWorld staff for safety at least two days before the first day of the camp.  Campers may rent or purchase equipment from BikeWorld.

Parks Recreation Superintendent Amie Clark said, “Adventure by Bike allows the participants to use their bikes all week long as the only form of transportation under the supervision of the experienced staff and riders from BikeWorld.  It’s a camp that teaches kids bicycle handling skills and traffic laws.”

Martha Emmons of BikeWorld said, “Adventure by Bike Camp allows our two-wheeled explorers the opportunity to discover Paducah.  They are riding the Greenway Trail, cycling residential streets, exploring neighborhoods, and visiting local landmarks.  But this is more than a bicycle camp.  This is a leadership camp.”

Clark added, “The campers also get to choose their schedule of activities as a group before going out each day.  In the session held earlier in June, the campers decided to ride downtown and the surrounding areas where they toured the Paducah Convention & Visitors Bureau, River Discovery Center, the Hotel Metropolitan, City Hall, and the Courthouse.  They ate lunch downtown and got to see the behind the scenes operations at the Carson Center.  Those were just a few of the activities that the campers enjoyed.”

Funds awarded to the City of Paducah through the Paula Nye Memorial Education Grant help fund the Adventure by Bike Camp.
