The 43rd annual Fort Massac Encampment is set for this Saturday and Sunday in Metropolis.

Battle re-enactments, demonstrations, performances and activities will portray what it could have been like to live at the fort during the late 1700s and early 1800s. 

Portrayals of French, Spanish, British and Colonial American troops can be seen, all in historically accurate attire and tents. Traders, skinners and craftsmen will also be there, demonstrating their expertise for those who attend. 

Food, snacks and drinks will be available all through the encampment.

Schedule for Saturday and Sunday:

10:00 am - Posting of Colors at the Old Fort Area
10:30 am - 42nd Royal Highlanders Bagpipe Band performs at the Main Event arena
10:30 am to 4:00 pm -  Music, Storytelling, Puppet Shows & Games, at Children’s Area by the museum
11:00 am to 3:00 pm -  18th Century Music by various performers at the Main Stage
11:30 am - Voyageurs canoe landing at the Riverfront
12:30 p.m - Children’s activities at Main Event area
1:00 pm - Fashion Show at the Small Stage
3:00 pm -  Mock Battle and Military Tactical Demonstration on the Battlegrounds
5:00 pm -  Military Retreat at Old Fort area (event closes afterwards)

Throughout the day:
10:30 am – 4 pm: Storytellers, Face Painting and Magic Show at children’s area by museum
11:00 am – 3 pm: Music of 18th Century performed by various entertainers

On Sunday, a Church Service will be held at 9:00 am

Parking and shuttle service will be available for those who park in the field next to the park’s Trout Pond on 5th Street (across from Sonic Drive-in).
