PADUCAH, KY - West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Paducah School of Art and Design (PSAD) will host its first National Printmaking Invitational featuring the artwork of artists from across the country. The exhibition opens with a free community reception November 16 from 5 - 7 pm in the Bill Ford Gallery at PSAD's 2D and Graphic Design Building, 905 Harrison Street in Paducah's Lower Town Arts District.

"Continuing a tradition of national invitational exhibitions in the various disciplines taught at PSAD, we are pleased to host our first National Printmaking Invitational in association with the opening of new printmaking studios in the 2D and Graphic Design Building," said PSAD Dean, Paul Aho. "This exhibition also complements our new community education programs in screen printing and intaglio printmaking."

Exhibiting artists are James Ehlers, Emporia, Kan.; Katie Baldwin, Huntsville, Ala.; Matthew Hopson-Walker, Mobile, Ala.; Michael Barnes, Dekalb, Ill.; Scott Stephens, Vestavia, Ala.; Aaron Coleman, Tuscon, Ariz.; Nicole Hand, Murray, Ky.; Jason Urban, Austin, Texas; Lise Drost, Miami, Fla.; Jayne Reid Jackson, Madison, Wis.; and Matthew McLaughlin, Greenbelt, Md. The exhibition was curated by Michael Crouse, retired professor emeritus of art, University of Alabama-Huntsville and Erich Neitzke, PSAD adjunct instructor of art.

"We are grateful to Michael and Erich for curating the exhibition and for bringing their knowledge and experience as instructors to our new community education programs in screen printing and etching," said Aho. "The new print studio completes our campus and complements the fiber arts studio that opened last year and features dyeing, weaving and other fibers programs."

The invitational artwork will remain on display in the Bill Ford Gallery through December 13.

The college's PSAD offers an Associate in Fine Arts degree in Visual Art and an Associate in Applied Science degree and certificate programs in Visual Communication: Multimedia, as well as studio art classes for students of all levels and disciplines.
