The BOSTON: Hyper Space Tour landed in Paducah Sunday May 21st at The Carson Center. With over 31 million albums sold to date, their music has stood the test of time, as evidenced by live BOSTON audiences that span generations.

The band delivered 100% live vocals and music during the show Sunday evening. Meaning no pre-recorded audio tracks are used during their performances.

The mastermind of BOSTON, Tom Scholz, created much of the band's timeless music in his crude basement studio. The very beginning was actually seven years of writing and recording while Scholz was studying Mechanical Engineering at MIT. After graduating with a Master’s Degree, Scholz worked as a Senior Design Engineer at Polaroid, developing hardware for the world’s first instant movie system.

Scholz built a rudimentary tape system in his basement and with the help of Jim Masdea on drums, and Brad Delp on vocals, Scholz started recording many of the songs he'd written and played all of the instruments himself.

Scholz sent out demos and got rejected by many of the record labels. After a bit of refining, Scholz tried to send out demos once more as a last ditch effort.  Two major labels contacted Scholz and Delp and expressed their interest. They were signed to a deal with CBS/Epic Records in 1976, Tom left his Senior Design Engineer position at Polaroid, and their success began to take off. Boston was released in August of that year, and that album became a smash hit almost overnight. A world tour followed, with the band making their debut in New York at a sold-out Madison Square Garden show.

A monumental battle with CBS/Epic Records didn't stop Scholz from creating more music AND his own company to produce the specialized equipment he had invented His brand of amplifiers and gadgets, Rockman, became a big hit in the industry and business was booming. Gary Pihl was a big part of this success. Scholz prevailed in the battle with CBS/Epic and forever changed the music industry for artists/musicians. The legal battle freed  artists in the recording industry from unreasonable demands from the record labels.

BOSTON continued strong with more albums and tours adding to the success of the band.

The Hyper Space Tour definitely delivered the hits and a spectacular visual presentation on the Carson Center stage!
