Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and Live Nation announced Thursday that Chicago and Earth Wind & Fire would play opening weekend at the newly named Ascend Amphitheater.
Other acts lined up to play at the Ascend Amphitheater concert season include Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hall and Oates, Idina Menzel, Phish, the Counting Crows, The Smashing Pumpkins, Steely Dan and Peter Frampton.
The new downtown amphitheater will hold 6,800 people and will be home to the Nashville Symphony's outdoor concert series.
