The Lower Town Arts and Music Festival starts today, and continues Saturday and Sunday – May 18, 19 and 20th in, of course, Historic Lower Town Paducah.
Western Kentucky is very family oriented and it’s no surprise that since the Festivals inception, the organizers have included children’s activities in their plans. This year sees a huge expansion from previous years, with live entertainment as well as continuous arts and crafts, and other family friendly activities. Children’s entertainment will be available from 4 – 7 PM on Friday, 10 AM – 7 PM on Saturday and 10 AM – 5 PM on Sunday.
The children’s street will have bathrooms, a hand washing station, cooling tent and is located near the Paducah Police Department’s command center. On a low rise stage you can enjoy entertainment from organizations such as Animal Tales with their exotic animal show, Hooked on Science programs, the Paducah Symphony Orchestra’s Musical Petting Zoo and Nashville based children’s entertainer, Dennis Scott.
On the street there will be Story Time and Puppet Theater with Ms. Retta and Bob Dog from the McCracken County Library; Arts and crafts from The National Quilt Museum, the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, the Oscar Cross Boys & Girls Club and Purchase Parenting & Family Magazine. Children can color, draw with sidewalk chalk, and practice their hula hoop skills with Karson Kelly and some of the folks from Live on Broadway.
The children’s activities are just one more great reason to bring the family down to Lower Town this weekend for the Annual Lower Town Arts & Music Festival!
