"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" was conceived by Rebecca Feldman with music and lyrics by William Finn, book by Rachel Sheinkin and additional material by Jay Reiss. It is a musical comedy about high school students and their hopes, dreams and angst as they compete for a spot in the National Spelling Bee. Overseen by adults still stuck in adolescence themselves, the students sing their stories, utilize unique spelling techniques and learn that losing doesn't necessarily make them losers.
