“We are very pleased to have Ms. Ramsey visit our area and provide us with important information about the Prichard Committee and their work in Kentucky on behalf of improving our education standards,” said Sonny Smith, Paducah Chamber Vice Chair of Education and Workforce and Chair of the BEP.

Ramsey will present an overview of the Prichard Committee’s areas of focus and the recent policy changes in Frankfort that will have an impact on local schools and students.  The Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence is a citizen-led, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to vastly improve the quality of education in Kentucky.  The organization was established by a group of volunteers in 1983.  Since that time, Kentucky has climbed from the bottom of the national rankings in education to the middle and even above on some indicators.  Their continuing mission is to see Kentucky move to the top tier of all states for education outcomes within this generation.

Ramsey joined the staff in 2014 as associate director and became executive director in 2016. Previously, she was director of public policy for United Way of Greater Cincinnati. She served on the Board of Education for Pendleton County, KY for 10 years and as a member of the Kentucky Board of Education for six years, completing her tenure as vice-chair. She holds undergraduate degrees from Northern Kentucky University and an MA in Public Policy from the University of Kentucky Martin School.

Pre-registration is required but there is no fee to attend.  Those interested in attending should register on line,, email or call 270-443-1746 by no later than noon, July 25.
