The AQS Quilt Show got off to a big start on Tuesday when hundreds of quilters from around the world gathered at Walker Hall for the 38th awards presentation.

More than 400 quilts were entered into the competition in 16 categories, with over $127,000 in prize money handed out.

The winner of the Best of Show Award and the $20,000 prize was Molly Hamilton-McNally from Coto de Caza, California. Her quilt, titled "Serenity," was created during the pandemic. The same quilt was also the Best of Show winner at the AQS Branson quilt show in March.

Yoshiyuki Ishizaki from Hyogo, Japan won the Best Hand Workmanship Award, and the winner of Best Stationary Machine Workmanship was Mariya Waters from Victoria, Australia.

The winning quilts are on display with hundreds of other selected works for the remainder of Quilt Week.
